Go here to find the concluding two parts of my series Drawings into Digital, illustrating my own techniques in Toon Boom Animate Pro, most of which would apply also to users of Studio and Animate.
First I illustrate some of the options available for closing gaps when using a loose or open style of inking, with mention of the important difference between the Stroke tool and the Close Gap tool.
In Part 4, here, I look at and illustrate the process of adding color to the same drawings.
And, for a look at the final scene, check out The Fox On the Man’s Head (Part 7), here.

George Siosi Samuels, a Toon Boom Animate Pro user, has started creating an animated series to raise awareness on Tuvalu, titled The Tales from Nanumea. This project aims at helping save and preserve the culture, stories, and oral traditions of Tuvalu, a nation at risk of losing their land due to global warming and rising ocean levels, through animation.

As mentioned in their press release, Pencil Test Studios, Inc. has completed three animated advertisements for Public Storage using Toon Boom Animate Pro.
Created in a “marker on cardboard” style, the commercials follow “Stickman” as he journeys though a series of helpful storage tips and information: from navigating the PublicStorage.com web site, to showing the best ways to pack your stuff.
“Each commercial was designed to be both informative, and entertaining,” said Mike Dietz, co-founder of Pencil Test Studios. “The Phelps Group was great to work with and they were all really receptive to the funny ideas we came up with.”
While working on a tight schedule, Pencil Test Studios completed the three 90 second spots in about 8 weeks. “The challenge was to quickly create visuals that were amusing. We really had a lot of fun with the characters, and each animator brought a lot of personality to ‘Stickman,’” said Pencil Test Studios co-CEO, Ed Schofield.

Here is another great piece created by Adam Phillips, one of the most proficient Animate Pro users. This music video is for Cilla Jane, an independent singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Australia. “Into the Woods” is a track from her new album called ‘Until Morning Comes’, which is available on iTunes.
Check out the video:
Here is what Adam stated: “The animation was done 100% with Toonboom Animate Pro. It’s entirely 2D, I’ve used Toonboom’s morphing to achieve some of the 3D-ish effects, like the fox head and girl turnaround.”
